Why is it important?
Generally speaking, racking systems are manufactured from relatively robust yet lightweight materials, and as such can only carry a certain amount of load. Any damage, minor or major, will reduce its load carrying capacity over time. The greater the damage, the less it can carry.
Beyond the fundamental obligation of guaranteeing the safety of employees, rack inspections are also crucial to the company for maintaining an excellent level of service. It directly impacts the company’s ability to maintain enough inventory to meet its demand.
In the event of a racking system failure, not only is it extremely dangerous for employees working in the vicinity, it is also highly likely to result in damaged goods, resulting in significant losses in revenue or completely dissatisfied customers.
Put simply, any racking failures, stemming from damage or accidents, directly jeopardizes the company’s delivery operations and profit. Of course, most importantly of all, neglecting inspections out of convenience can have serious consequences on the lives of employees, sometimes even killing them.
